The French Quarter is the oldest and most popular part of the city. Most tourists focus their attention on the neighborhood, which has top restaurants and music venues. Lines with beautiful architecture, the French Quarter offers Old World charm and character. Located a mile from the Mississippi River, but just a few minutes walk from the historic French Quarter, this sophisticated hotel has a contemporary, jazz inspired interior. The bell desk has layers of colorful illumination and there’s a bar with fringed tassels that evoke the fashions of the Roaring Twenties. The comfortable guest rooms are particularly spacious and welcoming.

The towering Hilton provides guests with wonderful views of the Mississippi River and the nearby cruise terminal. Inside, the lounges and dining areas are full of characteristic features such as curved ceilings with exposed wooden beams. Elegant lamps, colorful rugs and traditional upholstered armchairs create a relaxed, cozy atmosphere. Cruise terminals are within a 5 to 15-minute walk of hotels near the Convention Center (Arts – Warehouse district) and properties in downtown New Orleans, or the Central Business District (CBD). Hotel St. Pierre French Quarter is a charming retreat located in historic buildings, offering a peaceful oasis within strolling distance of Bourbon Street and Louis Armstrong Park.

They also have a Park & Cruise package which provides you with one-way transportation to the cruise terminal, along with parking for up to 14 days. Located barely a mile from the cruise port, the Holiday Inn Downtown Superdome is a great place to stay before shipping off. Their Park & Cruise package, which costs roughly $30 more than their standard rates, features up to 8 nights of parking for one vehicle. Located a short half-mile away, the Hampton Inn & Suites Convention Center is the closest hotel to the Port of New Orleans. This 4 star hotel offers a shuttle to the cruise terminal, or you can walk if you’re inclined. Their website doesn’t list any of their cruise packages, so you’ll have to call the hotel to confirm these details.

The beige exterior has blue shutters at the windows and a wrought iron balcony. The lounge has deep red walls, traditional brown leather sofas and chairs. The dining room has white mirrored pillars, Louis XVI chairs, beautiful glass chandeliers and highly decorative doors.

Expect to pay a bit more to be in this location, but it’s worth it to be right next to the ships. The guest rooms are bright, spacious and tastefully presented with touches of French colonial splendor with Louis XVI style chairs and drapes. Outside there is a beautiful walled courtyard garden with seating and an elegant fountain. It also serves an excellent hot breakfast buffet before you head off to the cruise port. The hotel offers cruise parking for guests with a Stay Park and Cruise package and they will help you organize transport from the hotel to the cruise port.

Given the number of hotels in the area (there are nearly 100 within a mile of the cruise port alone), this is by no means a list of every New Orleans hotel to offer park and cruise packages. If you find another hotel you’d like to stay, it’s worth a call to see if they offer parking during the cruise. Enjoy easy access to downtown New Orleans while staying at the Residence Inn in Metairie. Nearby are a plenty of restaurants and places to shop, and the airport is just a short drive away. They do allow cruise passengers to park during the cruise, but they don’t offer a shuttle to the port. Located right across the river, the Courtyard Marriot offers a cruise package to travelers, providing parking and transportation to the cruise terminal.

If you’re cruising from New Orleans, you’ll probably need to stay a night or two at one of the hotels near New Orleans Cruise Port. New Orleans has hundreds of budget and luxury hotels, including some less than a mile from the cruise terminal. Residence Inn New Orleans MetairieIf you’re wanting to stay in the heart of the French Quarter and walk from bar to bar, this isn’t your top choice. If you simply want somewhere highly-rated and affordable, it’s a great option. When we called the hotel, we were told that parking is free during your cruise, but there was no transportation to the port.
